Reflection – a story in glass by Kjell Engman

Kjell Engman’s new exhibition, Reflection, is inaugurated the 17th of August at Strandverket, Marstrand. The exhibition is a compilation of the many worlds Engman has created during the soon 50 years together with Kosta Boda.

Music and glass are both lifelong loves for artist and designer Kjell Engman. Engman is from a musical family, and he plays the bass. Music has always permeated his glass art – not only in his popular glass instruments, but in the dancing musicality and joie de vivre conveyed by his figures, objects and settings.

As a glass artist, Engman has always been a storyteller. He is passionate about building imaginary worlds of glass and other elements – sets, lighting, and other effects, such as fragrance and of course, music, soundtracks. As usual, Kjell Engman wants to spark the triggering of multiple senses.

Quote

“I think of my exhibitions as a theatre, where the art pieces are my actors who, together with light and sound, contribute to amplify my story. The story in this exhibition stems from three different tales that has become one, I call it Reflection”.

Kjell Engman

The exhibition is open until 15th of September, more details are found here.
